1956 年發行的《Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Song Book》是新成立的 Verve Records 唱片公司推出的首張專輯。如今，這張專輯在距離原始發行日期幾乎整整 70 年後再度發行，是巧合嗎？
這張作品開啟了 Ella Fitzgerald 著名的「Song Book」系列，專輯由 Norman Granz 製作，並邀請編曲家兼指揮家 Buddy Bregman 與錄音室管弦樂團合作，確立了早期 Song Book 系列大家熟知的大樂團編制風。
這套雙黑膠專輯收錄 32 首出自 Cole Porter 筆下的經典歌曲，包括《All Through the Night》《Let’s Do It, Let’s Fall in Love》以及《What Is This Thing Called Love?》等名作。專輯於 1956 年 2 月至 3 月期間錄製，以精緻優雅的西岸管弦編曲襯托 Ella Fitzgerald 無懈可擊的咬字、節奏掌握與歌喉，作品融合Swing、抒情編曲與好萊塢黃金年代的華麗質感。
專輯發行後即廣受讚譽，幫助 Verve Records 形塑品牌定位。此次 Verve 的 Acoustic Sounds Series 復刻版本採用原始類比母帶轉錄製作，壓製為 180 克重磅黑膠，同時搭配豪華 gatefold 封套包裝，力求以高規格重現這張爵士經典！
