專輯名稱取自瑪麗蓮·夢露的一句名言——I won’t stop when I’m tired, I’ll stop when I’m done——創作靈感最初源自 EERA 看老黑白電影的過程，她深入研究那些片中的女性——從《公寓春光》（The Apartment）中的 Shirley MacLaine，到《紳士愛美人》（Gentlemen Prefer Blondes）中的瑪麗蓮·夢露。她表示，專輯中自己彷彿在與這些女性對話。
《I’ll Stop When I’m Done.》的音樂風格相較以往更為柔和與內斂，以溫暖的鼓和輕快的節奏點綴。專輯由 Chris Taylor（Grizzly Bear） 共同製作，錄音地橫跨柏林與巴塞隆納。EERA 坦言，她在錄音時都是坐在沙發上輕輕得唱，整個過程更自然、更貼近。
